3 Key iPhone Facts You Should Know

As of 2021, more than 1.65 billion Apple devices are active. Of these, over one billion are Apple iPhone’s. That represents almost a whopping two-thirds of all active Apple devices!

Whether you’re an Apple smartphone user or plan to become one soon, it’s best to learn as many iPhone facts as you can. These juicy details can help you get the most use out of this pricey device.

With that said, we rounded up some of the most useful facts about iPhones you need to know, so be sure to read on.

1. You Can Track Your Lost or Missing iPhone

So long as you’ve enabled the Find My app on your iPhone, you can track it if you lose or misplace your device. It’s an asset tracking service that has been around for over a decade now. It relies on the hundreds of millions of Apple devices and iPhone users that make up Apple’s Find My network.

The Find My app can geo-track all Apple devices, including iPhones, iPads, and Macs. So, by having an iPhone, you can find AirPods, AirTags, people, and even a few third-party devices. It lets you see the items and people you’re tracking on a map, and you can trigger an alarm from the connected devices.

If you haven’t enabled Find My in your iPhone yet, go to your Apple ID account via Settings. Tap the Find My icon and then activate it from there. This is one of the first things you should also do once you buy a new Apple iPhone.

2. iPhones Contain and Become Recycled Materials

A few years ago, Apple claimed it would use 100% recycled tin solder in its iPhone 6s main logic board. Back then, the company also said it used melted iPhone 6 aluminum enclosures in making Mac mini units. The tech giant also stated that the iPhone 7 used 27% less aluminum in its enclosure.

Since then, Apple has reported the use of even more recycled materials in its iPhones. For instance, it claimed that the iPhone 11 lineup is the first to use 100% recycled rare minerals. That’s on top of new iPhones using 100% recycled aluminum enclosures.

3. iPhone Batteries Could Last 2 to 3 Years Without Issues

The iPhone battery could keep up to 80% of its original capacity after 500 complete charge cycles. That’s what Apple says about its iPhone quality, but it doesn’t give users a way to track the charge cycles.

So, a ZDNet reviewer came up with estimates for the iPhone 11 and 11 Pro Max. The iPhone 11 battery could last for about 2 years before it starts to experience issues. The 11 Pro Max could keep its original capacity for up to 3.3 years before it loses some of its power.

If your iPhone starts losing power in less than a year, it can indicate a battery defect. Considering how expensive iPhones are, their one-year warranty covers defective batteries.

If yours is out of warranty, consider replacing your iPhone battery before you buy a new phone. This way, it would only cost you a fraction of what you’d otherwise spend on a new Apple smartphone.

Keep These iPhone Facts in Mind To Make the Most Out of It

As you can see, the iPhone facts discussed above can help maximize your iPhone experience. From using Find My to battery replacements, these things can help you get the most use out of your iOS device. Even if you’re not an Apple user, knowing that they consist of recycled materials can convert you into one.
