6 Fun Easter Eggs and Secrets in Fallout NV

One reason why the Fallout series resonates with so many gamers is its pop culture references. The developers aren’t afraid to add small easter eggs and fun secrets as homage to other fandoms and communities.

So if you are a budding Fallout 4 Guide hoping to make the most out of your experience, here are 6 cool easter eggs and secrets that make your playthrough a little more interesting.

Holy Hand Grenades

If you find yourself near Camp Searchlight and you have the Wild Wasteland trait activated, try looking inside the basement of the church. Here, you’ll find crates of Holy Hand Grenades. The box will contain instructions on when to throw the grenade. One notable detail is that the 5 has been crossed out and replaced with a three.

Connected the dots yet? It’s an ode to Monty Python and the Holy Grail. In particular, it points to the scene where King Arthur uses the Holy Hand Grenade to kill a rabbit.

You only get three hand grenades, so you need to be careful with how you use it. They pack a punch and can deliver up to 800 points of damage without any related perks. One extra fun detail is that these grenades have crosses painted on the side.

Post-Apocalyptic Cow-Tipping

Brahmins are mutated cows. Settlers in the Mojave Desert use them to carry large loads and work on the farm. And if you’re feeling bored, you can choose to play a little prank on the Brahmin.

All you need to do is walk up to one, crouch next to it, and press the action button to tip it over. The poor Brahmin will protest loudly, but it will get back by itself after some time. Take note that the Brahmin may become aggressive.

Tipping Brahmins also counts towards the “Knocked Up” challenge.

This weird activity is a reference to real-life stories on cow tipping. The only difference is it is impossible for one person to tip over a cow.

Locked Out (or in?) the Game

Here’s a trippy ending that not many players know about.

The Sierra Madre Casi no has a vault. You can trigger the ending by fiddling with the terminals. Eventually, you will gain access to Sinclair’s documents and a message meant exclusively for Dean Domino.

Once you read this file, the Vault will lock and you have no way of escaping. The casino will then create a new hologram that will replace you. With this hologram, you are no longer needed in the game. The last scene in this ending is of your character passing away.

Indiana Jones

You know how action movies feature the most unrealistic and outrageous scenes to keep the viewers watching? Well, sometimes the excitement is in wondering whether they actually make it out alive after a particular event. And in the world of Fallout 76, it looks like this hero didn’t.

One anxiety-inducing scene in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is when Jones hides inside a refrigerator to escape a nuclear blast. In the movie, he lives to see another day. But in Fallout 76, it’s a different story.

Go to the southwest area of Goodsprings Cave. You will come across a refrigerator with someone’s skeletal remains and a Suave Gambler Hat.

An Ode to Star Wars

Fancy a reminder of the galaxy far, far away? If you have the Wild Wasteland activated, you can travel to the Nipton settlement for a small easter egg. Here lie the charred remains of two skeletons named Beru and Owen. Do those names sound familiar?

These corpses are a reference to Beru and Owen Lars, Luke Skywalker’s aunt and uncle. Luke returned to his family farm, only to find out that it was too late for his caretakers.

(Definitely Not) Man’s Best Friend

Looks like this dog isn’t friendly

If you have the Old World Blues DLC, go to Higgs Village and stop by Gabe’s doghouse. Gabe isn’t there anymore, but you will meet Stripe. The name, texture, preference for chicken, and fear of a fountain in the village all point to one thing. Stripe is a reference to the main antagonist in the Gremlins film.

Also, Stripe is a mini Deathclaw

Stripe may be small, but it’s just as dangerous as any other Deathclaw. This creature has a little more health, but the good news is that it’s got a very short range. Also, Stripe will only pursue enemies as far as the fountain before retreating.
