5. AB de Villiers – 43 balls
One of the most loved cricketers around the world, Abraham Benjamin De Villiers along with Virat Kohli took the Gujarat Lions bowlers to the cleaners as the former slammed a century in just 43 balls in Bangalore in IPL 2016. Coming at no. three, De Villiers displayed his 360-degree hitting as he mustered 10 fours and cleared the ropes 12 times. He finished the innings by remaining unbeaten on 129 off 52 balls to take RCB to 248/3, the second-highest total in the history of IPL. AB also shared a mammoth 229-run stand with captain Kohli as RCB destroyed GL by 144 runs.
4. Adam Gilchrist – 42 balls
Adam Gilchrist, playing for Deccan Chargers, made a mockery of the 155 target set by Mumbai Indians at Dr. DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai in IPL 2008. He opened the innings with VVS Laxman and brought up his ton in 42 balls as he scored 109* off 47 balls with the help of nine fours and ten sixes. With a strike rate of 231.91, Gilly chased down the target single-handedly and won the game for the Chargers by 10 wickets.
3.David Miller – 38 balls
If it’s in the ‘V’, it’s in the tree, if it’s in the arc, it’s out of the Park. Miller ‘The Killer’ was quoted saying after his stupendous knock of 101* off 38 balls against RCB in Mohali in 2013. This innings came in a run chase and Miller smashed eight fours and seven sixes. Chasing 191, Miller came in to bat at no. five and made full use of his dropped catch by Virat Kohli by winning his team a thriller.
2. Yusuf Pathan – 37 balls
The Baroda-born Yusuf Pathan slammed the second-fastest century in IPL when he reached the milestone in just 37 balls against Mumbai Indians at Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai in 2010. Chasing a big total of 213 and coming in to bat at no. five, Pathan smashed 100 runs in 37 deliveries with nine fours and eight huge maximums with a strike rate of 270.27. His innings pushed RR to a total of 208 as the team fell short by just four runs.
1.Chris Gayle – 30 balls
On April 23 in 2013, fans in M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore witnessed something miraculous and outrageous as the ‘Universe Boss’ Chris Gayle played an insane inning of 175* off just 66 balls with 13 fours and 17 gigantic sixes with a strike rate of 265.15 against now-defunct Pune Warriors India team. The Jamaican reached the landmark off just 30 deliveries. It is the fastest ton ever by a batter in any match of T20 history. Also, Gayle registered the highest score by an individual in any T20 match. His thunderous knock helped RCB post 263/5 which is also the highest total by a team in IPL history.
