How to Create a Good Flyer

How to create a good flyer? All the advice from ZOBUZ!

Long before the appearance of expressions such as street marketing or canvassing, flyers were already considered an excellent advertising medium. Already in the 18th century, they were frequently used at the time of the Modern Revolution for political purposes.

Today, flyers (also known as “leaflets” or “advertising material”) are used primarily to help businesses find new customers and make themselves known through activities or events various. But the foundations of their effectiveness remain the same: they offer a very good quality / price ratio and are easy to distribute.

Tips for creating a flyer

To create a flyer, you must first precisely define its content. Most flyerbox fall into one of the following three categories, each with a different objective that determines the content of the final product.

Event announcements: These are the types of flyers that immediately come to mind for most people. They allow you to advertise a concert in a local bar as well as sales in a neighborhood bookstore, and they are generally found displayed on municipal billboards or distributed on the street.

Information flyer / product sheet: if you have already participated in a trade fair, you have certainly received it. These documents (generally printed on both sides) allow companies to offer their prospects a detailed overview of their products. They also complement very well the sales media that are given to customers.

General information: are you starting a new business? Are you looking for volunteers? These flyers are designed to convey the message. As the uses and criteria differ for each of them, the size and formulation of your finished product will have to be adapted.

For example, announcing an event will require space for the date, time and place, as well as the names of participants and the theme of the event. As a general rule, these sheets are printed on both sides, in order to provide sufficient space for the characteristics of the products, their advantages, their uses, etc. If you are creating a flyer to advertise sales or a promotional offer, be sure to place your reduction or bargain prominently. Clearly announce restrictions and dates so you don’t disappoint your customers.

A6 flyers are perfect for promoting your business in your neighborhood: distribute them, drop them off in high-traffic locations or put them in mailboxes.

A5 or square flyers are perfect for sales and special events, because not only do they stand out, but they can easily be slipped into a customer’s bag or distributed on the street. If you have to distribute a large number of flyers and you have the possibility of restricting your text so that it occupies less space, a smaller flyer (A7 for example) may very well do the trick. : you will be able to print more at a lower cost.

Price lists and restaurant menus fit well into DL flyers, while an A3 flyer allows you to give high visibility to your message, wherever you place it. Whichever company you choose to print your flyers, make sure it offers the most suitable size and paper for the use you are going to make of it.

How to write a flyer

Do you want to promote an event? Get straight to the point. The flyers relating to a concert or an event in a nightclub can be content to announce the names of the artists, the place, the date, the time and the price of the ticket. But more complex events, such as farmers’ markets or conferences, may require more detailed information to attract potential customers (“100% organic and local!” Or “Author with international success”, for example) as well as contact details (phone number, social media accounts or website address). That said, the basic concept and objective remain the same.

With a flyer announcing sales or a promotional offer, try to attract the attention of the public in the most effective way possible. Advertise the offer in clear, direct terms. For example, “-20% on the whole store” is a catchy title that will make readers want to know more. Use clear and direct language to inform people, including start and end dates, supply restrictions, and contact information for your business.

Flyers intended to inform the general public can follow the same recommendations by being as direct as possible and by highlighting the contact details of the company. If you are looking for volunteers to help in a food bank, for example, you can use a headline as compelling as “Feed 20 families by offering only 2 hours of your time per week”, all with your contact information and a call with visible action.

Educational or informative flyers require more finesse, because you need to grab the attention of your readers while helping them quickly assimilate your content. To do this, clarity and conciseness are the key words.
