There’s no shortage of iconic and wild plays in the NFL. Take, for example, the Patriots vs. Giants Super Bowl XLII match, where David Tyree pinned the ball against his helmet and pushed the Giants to score four plays. Moreover, who could forget the 2022 match between the Patriots and the Raiders? – where the Patriots led the game before a controversial touchdown from the Raiders.
When it comes to the NFL, you’ll get a whole stack of game highlights every year. Likewise, another season in full swing only means another full slate of best plays. So, without further ado, here are the best plays so far:
Table of Contents
Tua Tagovailoa’s No-Look Shovel Pass
Week 3 games made quite the headlines, especially with the Miami Dolphins entering the ranks as the NFL’s top-ranked offensive team. Moreover, their stats show no signs of backing out as they garner 462.5 total yards per game, 33 passing yards in offense, and 7.3 yards per play.
To make it even better, Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa strengthens those stats, especially with a match against the Denver Broncos on September 23. He has already completed 12 pass attempts for 155 yards in just three dives and ended it with two perfect touchdowns.
On his second touchdown, the pass landed near the goal on the Dolphins’ third drive, and the left-hand Tagovailoa threw a right-handed, no-look shovel pass to rookie De’Von Achane. This wild duo made the pass with a four-yard score in just under 15 seconds.
With his pass, the Dolphins climbed the rankings and shocked NFL spreads – all in the first half of the game. More importantly, the Quarterback’s execution of his offense racked up yards and touchdowns that made it into the books.
Packers’ Jordan Love’s Touchdown Pass
Packers’ Quarterback Jordan Love made headlines when he led the Green Bay Packers to a complete victory with a touchdown pass. In the September 24 game against the New Orleans Saints, Love connected with Romeo Doubs with only 3 minutes remaining in the fourth quarter. With his pass, Love tied the game at 17 to 17 – a feat in itself considering that the Packers were down 17–0 entering the fourth quarter.
The quarterback didn’t stop there; he also finished the game with a pass for 259 yards, one interception, and one touchdown. His efforts pushed the Green Bay Packers to conquer this match against the Saints in Week 3 of the NFL.
Texans and Falcons Star Rookies in Week 5
In Week 5 of the games, Houston Texans’ and Atlanta Falcons’ star rookies took the stage against a match with a score of 21-19 (in favor of the Falcons). Texans’ rookie Quarterback C.J. Stroud and Falcons’ rookie Running Back Bijan Robinson were the talk of the show.
Here, the No. 2 overall pick, Stroud, started Houston with a 1,212 pass – the second-most passing yards in NFL history. Stroud also went in for 20 out of 35 for 249 yards and a touchdown, proving he’s a talented player with many wild throws.
To match Stroud, Robinson also gives the Atlanta Falcons their offensive firepower. Moreover, the Week 5 match tied him for fourth in the NFL in rushing yards, making him dangerous in the passing game and a challenge to opposing teams.
Seahawks’ Geno Smith’s Late Heroics
Any player can be quite the powerhouse regarding the Seattle Seahawks – and it’s evident, especially in their game against the Cleveland Browns last October 29. During this game, Seahawks’ defensive player Jamal Adams used his head and passed to Geno Smith, giving him the chance for late heroics. With their attempt, the Seattle Seahawks won the game 24-20 and secured first place in the NFC West.
Not only this, as rookie player Smith was sensational in Seattle’s match. He connected on four of five passes, and he used a block to push DK Metcalf on the perimeter and scored a touchdown. Overall, the Seahawks displayed excellent teamplay as each player worked together through passes and plays.
Texans’ Stroud On A Critical Play
Houston Texans C.J. Stroud has no limit regarding power and best plays. During Week 9 of the games, he had the whole football world buzzing as he went for a 470 passing yards record and five touchdowns.
Although the rookie entered the game late, he put everything on display once he entered the field. With only 46 seconds left, Houston still had 75 yards to traverse, yet it was with Stroud’s efforts that the team managed to push through and win with a score of 24-20.
Buccaneers’ Zyon McCollum flattening his defense proved a critical mistake. Doing so was enough for Stroud to fire over the area over McCollum’s head and pass to Texans No.3 Tank Dell. You’d think this was an impossible feat, but it was no problem as Stroud and Dell found each other in the end zone and sealed their play with a comeback win!
Final Thoughts
Although we’re only midway through the season, your thirst for action is already quenched with these five exciting moments – and there’s even more to come as the NFL is yet to end. Nonetheless, keep sight of these game highlights, as it’s always a treat for football fans to look back on.
