Trying to keep your healthy lifestyle intact while at the workplace? You’re not the only one!
Lots of people with desk jobs are trying to keep their health in check these days. Here are six of our favorite tips to stay healthy at the workplace.
1. Stay Hydrated
One of the easiest things you can do for your health throughout the day is drinking enough water. Staying hydrated is pretty simple once you know how much water you should be drinking per day.
You can keep track of your water intake by bringing a reusable water bottle to work and refilling it throughout the day. Most reusable water bottles have markings on the side to indicate how much water they can hold.
2. Mindful Sitting
How do you say it also has a direct impact on your health at the workplace. For example, sitting for too long can cause back problems or neck pain.
To prevent this, many people have elected to use standing desks, which can be adjusted up and down and used either sitting or standing. If you can’t afford a new desk, you might consider a converter like this one from Uncagedergonomics.com. This is a great way to decrease the amount of time you spend sitting per day.
3. Take Breaks
You can also boost your workplace health by taking frequent breaks from your desk work. By getting up and walking around, you give both your body and brain a break from your work. This can help prevent poor circulation, neck and back pain, eye strain, and headaches.
Taking breaks is also a great way to get your steps in throughout the day, giving you just a little bit more exercise while you’re at work.
4. Eat Right
Lunch breaks at work are great opportunities to socialize with coworkers, which means it can be tempting to go out to eat fairly regularly. However, it’s important to make sure you’re eating right at work so you can maintain your health.
Packing a lunch from home can be both healthier and more frugal than going out to eat. If you do go out to eat, try to order food that will help you to feel energized at work so you avoid the 2 pm slump!
5. Get Enough Sleep
Getting enough sleep is also essential to staying healthy at work. While you probably shouldn’t be sleeping in the workplace, A good night’s sleep before the workday will help propel you through the 9-to-5.
Getting enough sleep can also help lower your stress levels, prevent migraine headaches, and ease neck and back pain. So as tempting as it can be to stay up and watch one last episode of Netflix, going to bed early will definitely pay off for your workplace health in the long run.
6. Tidy Up
Keeping a clean working environment is also key to workplace health. Disinfect your workspace, keyboard, and any other items that you touch frequently. You can also support your mental health by decluttering your desk!
