A standout moment from the program was when the star of Poor Things and La La Land, who was recently the subject of the Screen Actors Guild strike that lasted four months, performed a prerecorded skit mocking the usage of AI in entertainment.
Three minutes of comedic footage reportedly depicted what happened when artificial intelligence was used to “seamlessly replace” Stone after she had captured contaminated footage.
The utilization of cast member Punkie Johnson—who in no way resembles Stone—as a body double and the use of digital technology to superimpose Stone’s face on Johnson created an astonishing and amusing image.
Adding to the comedic value, Johnson appears to be completely ignorant on Stone and her body of work.
Tina Fey and Candice Bergen, two other regular guests on the show, gave Stone a jacket that read “Five-Timers Club” at another point in the program.
She joins the likes of Alec Baldwin, Tom Hanks, Woody Harrelson, Steve Martin, and Christopher Walken as members of the “club,” while being the youngest at 35 years old.
The second youngest is myself, at 53 years old,” Fey declared. You’re gonna adore that room. A whole “women’s section” was even added a few years ago. The concept originally came from Candice Bergen.
Bergen said that the spot had its beginnings “as a small quiet place to cry.”
“But, over the years, it became a big, luxurious place to cry,” she said.
Fey continued by describing how the club has changed since she first joined in the 2010s.
“TikTok was nonexistent. Due to the lack of an Olympic Games and the peak of network television, there were still overweight celebrities. My show 30 Rock had a weekly viewership of 6 million.
On a weekly basis, six million people? Were those a lot?” Stone inquired.
“When was that?” No. However, today specifically? “No,” Fey quipped.
I don’t care; today is your day, Emma. During the process of helping Stone put on her elegant velvet club jacket, Bergen informed Stone that she was now a part of SNL Herstory.
According to Stone, the accomplishment has been a lifelong goal of hers.
“It means so much that I get to share it with you guys,” she went on.
