iPhone Screen Repair

Our phones are items near and dear to our hearts. We use them for everything. Talking, texting, emailing, sharing content via social media, note-taking, you name it.

They are a necessary accessory, but what happens when your iPhone screen cracks?

You’re either distraught or indifferent because you’ll get it fixed eventually.

You should consider all the variables at play when thinking about how or where to get your iPhone screen repair done because it’ll cost you.

Read on to find out more options to fix your broken iPhone screen woes.

iPhone Screen Repair: The Financial Cost

Repair or replace iPhone? That is the question.

An iPhone screen repair cost is not cheap if you don’t have AppleCare+.

The highest price one will have to pay Apple to get the screen replaced is $329 for the iPhone 12 Pro Max, iPhone 11 Pro Max, and iPhone XS Max.

The lowest price is $129 for the iPhone’s older models.

If you have AppleCare+, you will only need to pay $29, and your additional on-site fee will be waived.

An option to replace iPhone is Apple’s iPhone express replacement service, but beware it’s not available under the screen, only damage fee. Your phone has to have multiple injuries.

If there are multiple issues with it,  the process to use that service is simple.

  • Contact Apple to request Express Replacement Service
  • Backup your original iPhone
  • Return the original iPhone using the packaging that came with the replacement
  • Upon receiving the replacement iPhone, insert your SIM card use the previous backup to restore it

The Social Cost of a Broken iPhone

We also need to talk about the social cost. Like it or not, there is stigma surrounding a broken iPhone screen.

The Ringer’s Molly McHugh polled Twitter after she received pushback about her cracked screen from everyone she encountered with it.

The overall consensus was that a cracked iPhone screen would prompt the side-eye from friends and colleagues and even render you undateable even with a job, $401k, and health insurance.

ABI Research Analyst Marina Lu wrote in a 2014 report for the company that protective cases are a necessity due to the iPhone’s thin and light stature, and features like wireless charging and digital payment were going to drive the market for cases.

In 2017 alone, Americans spent $3 billion, yes, $3 billion fixing their iPhone screens. Insane right?

At the time, 74 percent of iPhone breaks were a result of them being dropped on the ground. A whopping 50 million screens were broken. It is clear that having an iPhone without a case is dangerous.
