Prince William’s alleged affair with his friend Rose Hanbury has been circulating for quite some time. The purported controversy involving the 41-year-old Prince of Wales and the 39-year-old Hanbury is mentioned in author Omid Scobie’s most recent book, “Endgame,” but Scobie maintains that the two were never involved.
According to Scobie’s latest interview with Zobuz Tonight, he can see why rumors about William’s infidelity with Kate Middleton have circulated. “Regrettably, if you let a rumor to circulate on its own, it can travel the globe for twenty laps before you even consider how to handle it,” the author noted. “They chose to ignore it, so now those rumors will linger on forever, even though there’s no evidence to support their veracity,” he continued.
Following an eight-year courtship, William, 41, and Middleton, 41, tied the knot in April 2011.
Hanbury has a background in modeling and is now a peeress from Britain. They exchanged vows in 2009, and he became the 7th Marquess of Cholmondeley. They are parents to three kids between the two of them.
Members of the royal couple have been known to mingle with the Cambridges on occasion. Infidelity rumors began circulating in 2019. Nonetheless, Hanbury’s attendance at William’s father King Charles’ coronation earlier this year suggests that the speculations around their relationship have subsided.
Scobie continued by saying that he handled the “allegations against William, Kate’s and their fallout with Rose Hanbury” with “extreme care” in his book.
“There are so many things that one cannot go into for legal reasons, but I thought it was really important,” he continued, adding that rumors or no rumors, the matter was important. And I just don’t see any evidence that this is anything more than a little detail, you know.
According to Scobie, Kensington Palace was worried that the accusations would “impact negatively on William’s reputation” and accused the Firm of using Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to shift the focus away from the news. The rumors are very popular on Twitter,” Scobie remarked. I believe that’s something that will do William a world of harm. According to him, “it probably looks even worse, actually,” meaning that there was a desire to blame Harry in order to make everything go away. “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were apparently manipulated, used as pawns to sidestep problems and other issues,” Scobie told SheKnows. Many of William’s admirers in 2022 thought the blind item posted by the celebrity gossip account Deuxmoi was about him.
“Everyone in London knows about this British royal’s extramarital affair… it’s on everyone’s lips and in every news report,” the post said at the time. “As long as things don’t get emotional, like they did with the last woman, the wife doesn’t mind her and actually prefers her husband to satisfy his sexual needs elsewhere.”
