For the uninitiated, Black Clover follows the adventures of Asta and Yuno – two orphans who have diametrical relationships with magic in a world where using it is essentially as natural to many as breathing. Asta was born without the power to use Mana, while Yuno was in fact gifted with a multitude of arcane abilities at birth. The anime follows the two on their journey to join brigades called Magic Knight Squads and to make much more of their lives, especially considering that they’re aspiring to become the next Wizard King.

The Black Clover Phantom Knights English release has finally come, allowing more fans of the popular anime series to try out the mobile kingdom defense RPG title that has seen a decent following emerge from its initial release in Japanese-speaking markets. Black Clover Phantom Knights originally released in July 2018, where it was met with a strong response from fans of the property, who felt the strategic RPG title lived up to expectation for what a mobile experience of the game’s universe and setting should feel like.
For those unfamiliar, Black Clover is an immensely popular manga and anime, and is a top performer in the shone genre. Black Clover follows, a boy who dreams of becoming the most powerful mage in a world steeped with magic despite having no ability to cast spells himself. When he uncovers a grimoire (the source of magical spells and abilities for each top mage) with a black clover on it, his life is thrown into chaos as he begins to wield a power that runs counter to what other users have access to. It’s typical shone fair, but the universe, which is a blend of Harry Potter and Fairy Tail on top of some other shone tropes, has ensnared many fans and keeps the property accessible and interesting to those who aren’t that familiar with other titles in anime as well.
Black Clover has been running since 2015, which means that this year marks the fifth year that it’s been trucking along. So far there are 117 episodes of the anime that are out, and the trailer above shows off the funky style and character aesthetic that fans have come to know and love. Black Clover Phantom Knights is a defense RPG, which will let you lead your own Magic Knights squad and to recruit characters that you love from the series. Phantom Knights focuses on an original story but keeps the focus on faces that we’re already familiar with, and we’re excited to try it out. However, it’s only currently available for Android, so iPhone users are going to have to sit this one out.
Now that you know the Black Clover Phantom Knights mobile game is now available in the West, are you going to give it a go? We’re not sure how much those who aren’t existing fans will get out of it, but a few hours of trying out a kingdom defense game seem pretty harmless
