Players of the popular Amazon game are fuming after recent changes to the end-game content of the MMORPG.
New World has recently made waves as an upcoming MMORPG that has the potential to rival popular titles such as World of Warcraft and Final Fantasy XIV. Popular streamers and influencers have also fanned the hype of the MMO. With Amazon’s aim to make the game an enormous success, developers of the game aim to release new content every now and then to compete with its competitors.
Amazon recently patched their latest major update with Into the Void. This update came with new content, fixes, and features. However, this recent patch didn’t come without any problems. Players are fuming as they start to find out how much of the end-game enemies have scaled further out of their reach. Players are now forced to gather more New World gold just to bridge the gap between them and the difficulty of the high-level content. Alongside harder content, reports of missing New World items have also surfaced.
What is with the new update?
New World has had a problem with New World coin duplicators in recent weeks, and the company has been trying to address the problem. The player-driven economy has been shut down more than once as the issue became rampant. In the recent patch of Into the Void 1.1, the Amazon-owned game sought to address the issue by banning more cheaters and introducing some restrictions to player-to-player trading.
In addition to the hotfixes, New World has also introduced new enemies and new weapons for the game. A new enemy faction makes its introduction in Aeternum, the Varangian Knights. This new faction gives players new content to fight in the game. However, new features comes with bugs and fixes.
The Problem with the update
The first few days of the update were received by the community with mixed feelings. Many players experienced glitches and other sorts of bugs as developers try to introduce hotfixes right away. But the bugs and glitches were the least of the players’ problems.
Less Rewarding Grinds
The recent updates have made the game difficult even for the high-level New World players. Players have been reporting that enemies became harder and take even longer to kill than before. While challenging enemies in a way is not a problem in itself, this issue is compounded with the game’s glitchy loot system. The devs of the game still have to make the proper fixes to the issues regarding the loot system. These problems make the grind less rewarding than usual. With abysmal drops and longer grinds, players are burned out faster than ever before.
One prime example of the issue is the Myrkgard Elite runs. These elite POIs were previously the best way to increase gear score once players reach New World watermark levels. However, since enemies have been made tougher and drops from elite chest have become worse, the progression of high-level players has been severely handicapped. With the high cost of exceeding the watermark levels, tons of coins are now needed just to feel like players are progressing.
Player companies within the game have reported that grinding or farming with other players has become harder too, making the game less fun. The most affected people with this issue are solo players as playing the game alone does not seem to be an option anymore. Though players recognize the dev’s initiative to encourage playing in parties, the game should still be playable in solo mode for players who like to grind alone.
No Warning
What infuriates players the most is that there were no prior warnings or statements made before the updates were implemented. Players were already noticing that game’s difficulty seemed to have increased before the devs actually confirmed that assumption.
The most recent issue to fan the flames of anger from fans is the alleged hidden changes in the game. Players have reported several items that are allegedly missing from the game that they speculate may have been removed. Players complained about missing some Harvesting gears after the patch update. The developers eventually confirmed that the items were deleted by mistake on their part. Furthermore, the devs stated that there is no way for them to restore the exact deleted gear. Because of this blunder, they offered to compensate players for any deleted Harvesting gear from them. Even with the compensation, fans are still mad that the items were deleted without any prior notice.
Players Are Not Happy
New World already had a bad reputation because of cheaters and exploiters. However, these recent blunders have made players even more disappointed with the MMORPG. Starting from the delayed response to New World coin duplicators to the recent unannounced nerfs and deleted New World items, gamers have had enough. Players of the game are now flocking towards Steam’s review site and giving negative reviews for the game. Though the game’s overall review is still mostly positive, the recent reviews have become mixed in lieu of the recent issues. Amazon has a long way to go to satisfy its players in order to avoid turning this game into another blunder.
